CUMA

Calcidese settlers are at sea, searching for a new country; the white dove that suddenly appears indicates a route. Following the dove brings them to Cuma. A  sound of cymbals, coming from afar, is heard by those on board the ships. It can only  come from a nearby land and so the Greek settlers sail towards the sound until they reach Cuma; this is the story told by Velleio Patercolo and Stazio of how Apollo guided the Calcidese settlers to Cuma.

Cuma – from G.C. Capaccio: Anonymous – XV11 century
